Had my VW Golf three years from new with no faults except a brake light bulb after 2 yrs. Cost 27p.
Had the veccy six weeks and the offside dipped headlight bulb failed today.
Had to go to dealer to get a new one fitted ( £6.50)

Its not the fact that a bulb has failed. Thats not unusual. Its the fact that according to the manual you have to remove the headlight to replace the thing! Not brilliant when your at the roadside in the dark!

Don't believe the manual, you can do it without removing the whole unit but its very tricky, its better to leave it to the garage or if its raining get the monkeys at halfords to do it while you sit in the dry.

My mate has a 03 plate golf, it says to take it to the dealer in that manual too, seems a common thing now, unless its yellow your not supposed to touch it if you know what I mean

I took it to Halfords first. The monkeys took one look under the bonnet and flipped.
The mechanic at the Stealers said hed never changed a bulb on a facelift veccy yet but he managed it with a bit of a struggle. I think a double jointed 1" diameter wrist would help!!
