That rings a bell. I was referring specifically to the steering ratio. I had read when I had my first pre-face (1.8) with standard suspension, that models fitted with sports suspension had a steering ratio of 15.2 as opposed to 16.1 with standard suspension.

I noticed a significant difference in the responsiveness of the steering on my second pre-face (2.0T SRI) which had sports suspension.

Prefaces had the electro-hydrolic system with the reservoir in the (passenger for me ) wheel arch.

It has been replaced with a cheaper system on facelifts, though some models may still have the EHPS system.

I'm not sure the reservoir itself has been moved, however : simpler models just have two plugs not wired (the EHPS is a CAN bus module).

This applied to the Vectra B and was fitted to the SRi and GSi trim levels
Sadly it was lost on the Vectra C
It was reinstated for the (latest) Insignia

The reason the reservoir sits at the wheel arch on yours is because of the turbo position on the dtis and 2ltr turbos. The cdti has the turbo mounted at the front of the engine, opposite to the dtis and 2ltr turbos so the power steering reservoir sits at the bulk head or near where your turbo sits. As for the change in system employed in facelifts im not sure.

Minehad the optional up graded suspension, which had the sri set up. With the upgradei got the multi spoke 18" wheel thrown in, but also there is a camber, ortoe pin/bolt on the front damper that helps correct the alignment of the front suspension.

It's only the length of the inner track rods that determine the steering ratio of these racks sri ones are shorter .

i don't get the whole question in the first place... he's getting coilovers... that means he'll need to remove both the shocks and springs.... so he can actually swap the whole lot to his girlfriends car....and if her shocks are new... well the distance is so small he can just put the springs over.... a simple thought process would have given him an answer a lot quicker than actually posting a topic about it.
