If you still have the old head unit (and the car wiring is still the same) then refitting it will automatically update the time and date when you tune the radio into an FM station.
The clock info is taken from the OEM headunit so without that you are somewhat stuck.
I can't remember exactly, but you may also be able to set the date / time using one of the Vx programming tools - this needs confirming before you go out to buy one though
You can set it using Opcom if you have it, or if not, but you have the CTSVX002 steering control adaptor fitted, you can press and hold the source change button on the steering wheel (lower button, left hand side of the wheel, looks like two dots with a line over the top) to enter the menu and set the time manually.
If you don't have either, then you're left with temporarily plugging the old radio into the car to use the settings button, if you no longer have it then unfortunately you're stuck.
On mine you have to hold down the bottom button on the left steering control for 5 seconds. That then brings up the settings menu. I have an after market alpine unit. Maybe the same for you?

ok thanks il give that a try
Hi All,
First post and new user to the world of vectra so here goes, sorry to reopen the thread, i have just brought a very beautiful but well aged vectra c 1.9 cdti sri 55plate with quite a few things needing done.
more of a bug bear than a problem but the date is showing 2005 and time is permanently stuck at 00:00, low and behold the previous owner has removed the stereo (so i have a gaping hole awaiting delivery of new one) is there a way to set the time and date? i have tried holding the [: button on the lower left of the steering controls but this doesnt do any thing for me. does the car have to be on? obviously the ignition does but engine running?
Im at the point of giving up but one last cry for someone with some knowledge either a yay or a neigh would be brilliant.
Many thanks all in advanced.
I think there has to be a head unit in place before you can set them buddy.
@ThatAudioBloke
I have an aftermarket sterio and I can't change the clock, source button does everything but the clock! I just disconnected the battery then reconnect it at midnight.
