Thumbs up All my dreams destroyed...

Harry came to the Red Dot rolling road in Watford today but he didn't bring his Vectra; he brought some strange monster car!

I could only sulk in the corner as his beast produced a massive 190bhp at the road wheel to my 170bhp. Both cars produced very similar torque figures though, 303lbft for mine and 310lbft for Harry's (again both at the road wheel in 5th).

Suprised Harry hasn't been on yet, I would have been extatic with a figure like that, the run down suggests a figure of about 224bhp at the fly wheel. I had a little ride in it (passenger) and it really pulls well all the way through the range in all the gears.

What I was most impressed with was the amount of traction Harry could get, if I try to put down that much torque the wheels just won't hold the road. The weight of the 3ltr in the front must give it that little bit extra...

It was a bit of a long day after Watford mate....only just managing to get on now.

And believe me i am well and truly chuffed with the result!!! But it's evident in the way that the car drives that the difference from pre-remap life to post is just incredible.

I'll see if the scanner wants to co-operate this morning and post up the print out.

    Good to see you BTW

PS - wasn't the run done in 4th?

Excellant figure there Harry . Good to see another 3.0 V6 with great power output .

Nutron, although the weight maybe an advantage for traction, we do lose out on power-to-weight and handling. I know the difference between the facelift 1.9 150 and 3.0 V6 is 137kg which equates to 21.5 stone. Which would be noticable. So the difference between your's and a 3.0 V6 power-to-weight wise isnt as big as your think

Yeah it was in fourth but I was a bit tired at 01:30 this morning, sorry about that. Must be because you mentioned running in fith while we were there, I brain just remembered what it wanted.

The power to weight ratio may be more favorable but I just can't get the grip needed. I am going to put a larger diameter tyre on the back and harder springs/shocks to lean the car over the front more. That might give me a bit more grip on the front, other than that I can't think of anything else I can do. Except putting obserdly big alloys and tyres on as I'm already running 235 toyo 888s...

I Haven't got a scanner handy but I'll punch the figures into excell and make a graph. If you stick yours up Harry, I'll over lay it for comparisum.

Here is my graph, they are all road wheel figures as those are the only true figures.

Nutron, have yu ever thought of going back to basics? I mean getting a decent map in, adding a decent filter and exhaust and leaving it alone?

You might be pleasentley suprised. I know in theory all you have done should add up the figures but it does'nt work like that, you could end up losing out.
