    confused Exhaust help

The back box on my Vectra C 52plate shed its outer skin a month ago but still sounds as if its doing its job although i think its days may be numbered. Anyway i bought a back box off ebay second had for £15 only this one has a silver tailpipe which means i need to cut some of my black plastic skirt, no problem. however the next problem is that the inlet is 2 inch on my car and looks like 3inch on this new one so am thinking did VX change the pipes in 2004 and is it worth teh hassle - should i just get a universal back box -
    Any advice anyone?

A reducer sleave? That sounds like an idea. Obviously I am trying to do the job myself rather than find time to visit a garage - thanks for your help
