    Default Please Help me

    Hi everybody,
Posted a thread yesterday but nobody has replied. am getting very frustrated with my 2.2 sri, it runs smooth, does the right amount of mpg, top end is good and never seems to struggle but just does not go!!!!! lovely car apart from the performance. had it serviced again!!! the guy at the service centre agrees its as slowest one he has ever driven, its only done 27 thousand, my misses car is 0-60 in 9.5, now ive looked at the 0-60 on the vectra its susposed to be 8.5 and I reckon its doing it in about 10 to ten and a half.
I brought the car when it was a year old and even the bloke who I brought it off said I thought it would be quicker, Everybody keeps telling me how quick they are and I am thinking there must be something wrong!!!! please can anybody give me a clue as what I can do. I am even looking at getting another engine for it as Im sure this one was made on a Friday.

    Please, please help me!!!!

    David

It's very difficult to diagnose any problems from here David. You obviously think there is a problem, but I'm sure anyone that has an idea will post with help.

I'll delete your original thread, otherwise it's going to get confusing having two threads going on the same question - and this thread has more information than the other one. People may reply in one or the other and you lose the flow of answers.

HTH and hope someone can help

No probs David. One question? have you had a drive of another 2.2 SRi? - see if that feels the same?

David - does the garage have an opinion why its slow?
Has vx had it on tech 2 to so they can see if there's a problem?
could it be a faulty lamba sensor stopping the engine from revving to its full capacity?

Default no but 1.8 is quicker

No, but I have of my mates 1.8 Sri and it feels quicker than mine!!!!! its the same year , when I brought it my previous car was a turbo Diesel and i just thought it was because I was not used to different power band. Was not really bothered to start with but its really starting to get my goat. It should be quick should'nt it

lol i have a 2.2 sri also but near edinburgh i'm a bit far away for a car swap

seriously though. mines is an auto and i find that it feels very quick pulling away in traffic for say foirst couple of seconds then seems to back off a bit. top end is good but i think you need to get the revs up to 4000 odd and keep them there when pulling away to get best power.

when i have it in 'manual mode' i find that in 2nd it absolutely flys but not having a clutch makes timing a wee bit hard for changing up.

overall, i think when you see the performance they got from the old 2.0 16v engines the 2.2 16v does seem like it could be quicker.
