    Default 2.2 petrol unit

Is this the best petrol unit Opel/VX has ever had?
How much vibration it produces compared to the 1.9CDTi ?
I would like to hear from members who have it, how much is the oil consumption on 10k?
Is it good to be turned over to LPG? Any experience with it?

    Thanks.

Everyone will have their own favourites, but its been in production a long while and used on the Astra, Zafira, Omega, Vectra & Signum and Fiat are using it as well now.

My 2.2 feels very smooth and quiet, the 1.9 CDTi (120)I drove last week felt like a bag of bolts and the usual clatter, although better than some.

Nil on both my 2.2s that I've owned.

Unless I'm mistaken, I don't think anyone on here has converted their 2.2 to Lpg, but I would be interested to hear as well.

I don't think you can convert it, I read somewhere that it's a multipoint engine and they don't do LPG aftermarket kits for it, not even sure Vx sells 1.8 LPG's anymore.

(almost)Every new petrol is multi point and it can be converted to LPG.
It is just that the LPG unit for these types of injection systems are much more expensive. They cost about 1500-2000 euro.

I could be mistaken, but last time I tried to see how much a conversion would be, it spat it back at me saying no kit available for some reason, I'll have a play later and see if I can find out why it was.

Just got rid of a 2.2 which I had converted to LPG (sold to my father so not expecting any problems )

Great runner. LPG gave me no problems apart from occasionally not being able to find a garage and economy dropped by about 5% which didn't bother me as it was 50% cheaper.

As for oil - very rare that i put any in inbetween services and I bought mine in 2002 and sold it three weeks ago with 120K on clock.

(edited to add that I'm also getting the no kit available message now - not sure why but I'm havning my new vectra done by Autotech 01773 741230 so give them a call and they may be able to help with info)

believe me m8 , there is LPG for just about anything that runs on petrol. Even available for Wartburg 2T engine. Its just that maybe, VX dont want/dont know how to install it. You can always go to LPG dealer.

right m8. So this company cant do the conversation. It doesnt mean others cant. I hear the comercial on the radio every day. They say they can even convert common rail petrols to lpg, and I havent even heard of such petrol even existed.
