    Default Painting Rear Calipers

Best way to do this, anyone? I have the 314mm ones painted and waiting to go on the front, but as it's taken 3 coats to get them looking right, I can't afford to have the car off the road for 2 days while I do the same for the back ones.

Is it possible to spray them in situ?

Or, the other possibility.....when the original front ones come off, I suppose I could then paint those and swap them onto the back? Would that just cause too much hassle with pad & disc sizes etc?

    Cheers

It's the drying time that knobbles you, I wanted to do mine, but as you said I cannot have the car sitting idle waiting for paint to dry, maybe if we get a hot summer i might have a go at them, should get three coats dryish in a day, and leave it to harden overnight.

General opinion seems to be Hammerite, and it does work fine. Apparently the Halfrauds caliper paint is too gloopy....

I did the rears in place, one at a time because only had one jack.
Used smooth hammerite, got 2 coats in a day & left overnight.

Don't forget to order decals as well, finishing touch, see Spikey's profile and he has a thread showing where to get them, about £6 a set.

This is the place I have used:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAUXHALL-Brake...QQcmdZViewItem

If you ask them nicely they will also do custom lettering, such as Irmscher (as seen on MTC's Siggy).

BTW they don't do them in Etched Glass look anymore, apparently it makes a mess of their cutting blades or something.

I used the Foliatec kit (from Halfords) and it worked nicely painting in situ - both the front and backs. Comes with a little brush and it dries quickly as you mix the paint with the hardener just before you apply it.
