    Default 10w 40 oil

Hi guys car was serviced friday at local dealer and noticed that they have marked in service book 10w 40 oil was put in . phoned service manager today and trying to tell me it is vauxhall recommended but if i want 5w 30 longlife to bring it back in but would have to pay extra after having already paid £216 . Is this right guys I have a 2004 3.0 cdti at 40000 miles?

no, it's not right.. they have filed it with 10W40 semi synthetic..this is not a long life oil, and you can't run it to the onboard computers service intervals that are set into the ECU as the oil will have degraded by then..

all they are doing is putting in the cheapest oil VX sell to get the maximum profit out of the job..

Take it back and point out that the car must be filled with 5W30 longlife fully synthetic..and that the 10W40 is an inferior oil and can't be used with the extended service intervals..

YOU ARE BEING FOBBED OFF....go and tear them off a strip!!

confused which oil for long life use 2.2 sri

Hi everyone first time i've used the site just logged in and was wondering which oil to use for topping up my veccy. Last service was done with long life engine oil used so which oil is best to use for topping up as not needing an oil change for another 4000 miles according to computer. It's an 2002 52 reg 2.2 sri

    Can anyone advise

    Cheers Matt

5w-30 fully synthetic long life oil from VX will do just fine m8, if it was long life that was used its best not to mix so use the same again.

my dealer did this to my V6 3.0.
After I went back & compained they flushed the engine & put in 5W-30 fully synthetic free of charge.

They also finished off the rest of the service too! i.e. changed brake fliud, fuel & air filter. They even gave me a present. They left a torx screwdriver under the bonnet. I found it a couple of days later!
    Bloomin idiots.

Ross of Lanark also used 10w 40 when they last serviced mine. When i enquired about it the guy said "We buy this in bulk to keep the cost of our servicing down," i think i'll be specifying the long lasting stuff in January.

    Rosssri,

Don't want to worry you, but I think the fully synthetic 5w-30 must be used if you have a DPF.
that's what I was told on here, but then again mine is the V6, so may be different.
