    Default Service Indicator

Is this thrown on by mileage default, or is it monitoring oil condition etc.

I ask because mine had an oil and filter change a mth ago when I had the heat exchanger problem, a couple of nights ago the light came on with 1000 miles indicated, I reset it and now it's showing 31000, I'm still going to have to get the service done as it's officially almost 20k since the dealer last did it, and 10k since I last did a full service on it myself, still considering doing it myself again and have the book stamped at a mates garage, and i will do a better service than Vx will, it'll cost me £210 with them, £30 to do it myself, and i'll have the piece of mind it's all been done as well.

i don't think it's just down to the mileage, i think it's a little more sophisticated than that

not sure what parameters it monitors though

I hope so, it's a good fail safe if it does monitor oil condition, perhaps when Marky arrives he might be able to shed some more light, thx H.

I'm assuming you're on ECOFlex VV and not ECOService? (ECOService being a straight 30,000/12 month schedule - ECOFlex being 30,000/up to 2 years max depending on your driving style).

I don't think it monitors oil condition, just the type of driving you're doing which it, I believe,' can tell from your speeds, revs etc. So if you drive it harder/more town driving then that you'll find the service light popping up a good bit before the 30,000 max.

Cheers D, I'm not 100% sure which one it is, but that makes sense, and for me it will come around quicker anyway, not that I rev it past 3500 rpm anyway.

I'm driving my Vectra C SRi 3.0 V6 CDTI very hard, having already covered 9000 miles in just over 2 months
When I bought the car in November it was showing the first service was due at 37K miles, and now it is showing it due at 35K miles!
I think it is more likely that if you do lots of (or less!) short journeys then the service interval would decrease quite sharply

Stick to the 20k max regardless what the thing says bud, 10k is even better, if you're handy with the spanners, it'll only cost you £30-40 using the 5/30 oil, £15 if you use 10/40, but I'm not sure how advisable that is in a 3.0.

Why 20K miles, when I've been advised it the car is on 30K miles sarvice intervals?
The car was supplied without a Service Book, so I can't check, and Network Q have sent me an eMail saying I don't need a Service Book as the Vectra B no longer requires them!

All my servicing is FREE, under my VX Complete Protection Plan

20k is petrol, 30k is diesels - maybe VV was having a moment!

Don't mean to sound like a smart a**e but it is actually only [with a diesel] 20k or 1 year if you stick to ECOService ... switching to ECOFlex allows you up to 30k or 2 years depending on your driving style ... the car monitors for short journeys, low speeds ideling and stuff.

Now Vauxhall have combined the two systems to provide just one which gives you UP TO 20k OR 1 year depending on your driving style ... hence mine was ready for it's first service around 16k

    Dave

Edit: I say 'only' but it's still very good for a diesel service interval IMO ... some similar cars are more like 8k
