Default Nokia 6230i MMC memory card - any suggestions??

I bought a new 512 Mb MMC (non original) to replace the standard 32 Mb memory card in my Nokia 6230i. The phone gives the message 'Card non formatted' and suggests formatting... but after the standard warning that formatting will erase all data, i get the message 'failed' everytime again.
According the manual my phone supports "any compatible MMCard" up to 512 mb.
Does someone have a suggestion? someone who uses a non-Nokia MMC in his phone had the same problem?

I fitted a 256mb mmc card in my wife 6230i before, don't remember it being a problem.

you could try formatting the mmc card in a pc card reader, that sometimes works better, after that the phone may read the card, it has worked for me in the past.

Could be a dodgy card, take it back and try another, if it doesn`t work then the make may be incompatable ..

Problem solved Apparently the connectors on both cards are not exactly the same, but took the card out and pushed it somehow harder to one side and now it works fine. The card is even faster than the previous original one

I dropped my 6230 and the slide has disengaged from the body, and will not go back together again, so now I'm forced to return to last yrs superior 6680, was on the cards anyway, the 6230 battery was using up in no time at all.

Dropped mine earlier - bought new covers and keypad on eBay for 1 dollar ... package arrived from Hong Kong after 2 weeks without any problem... and covers are original (or look exactly the same incl. Nokia serial number) ... phone looks again brand new

    Default 6230i mmc card

had a similar problem when i put a 1gb card in mine (use it as my default mp3 player so needed bigger memory)

1st time i put the card in I got the same message 'card needs formatting' - took card out and noticed it was not seating onto the pins. refitted with a big push, and hey presto it works

looking to try a 2gb card in future

    regards - TB
