    Default SRi Direct 2.2 v 1.9 CDTi

hi guys i am torn into which car to buy next.

    i have seen a lush 2.2 direct and a 1.9 cdti (150)

just wondered what the performance, drive, cost etc is in comparrsion on both cars?

they are both 2004 models and the same price, however the direct petrol has got LOADS more goodies and optional extras.......

    any advise, knowlegde greatly appriciated.
    thanx!

Depends what the car is for, if you are doing a lot of running, the saving in fuel will pay for a lot of goodies for the 1.9, which is also a faster car than the 2.2 in the first place, and a lot more tunable ... In fact, I would go for the 1.9 whatever, nicer engine with more potential than the 2.2 ...And if they are the same price, a no brainer really ...

    hi, thanx!

......even tho the direct is fully loaded and the cdti doesnt even have the sat nav?

i will be doing a fair bit of traveeling but not too excessive, and i heard the direct engine is also very good en fuel....

I'd say the 1.9 as well - it all depends how important all those extra goodies are to you.

The 1.9 will deliver much better mpg and the performance stats are very similar. The 2.2 is actually the slighter faster car - but only has 0.2 over the 1.9 on 0-60 - so nothing really. The mid-range of the 1.9 will be better than the 2.2.

Unless the goodies are sooooo much better it's a no-brainer for me as well. The 1.9 also has for more tuning potential and still return a very good mpg.

My personal opinion is that if you're going to be doing over 20k miles a year then the CDTi is the car for you. But if the toys float your boat, go for the Direct matey.

I had a 2.2 sri Vectra C, I bought it just before the 1.9 cdti came out. After owning the 2.2 (not a direct version though) I would choose a 1.9cdti 150 over it anytime . What extra`s are on the 2.2 over the cdti , are they the same spec cars, or is the 2.2 and elite model ?

thanx again for the help...i would prob be doing max of 11k a year mileage.

the 2 cars are below. the direct is MLC's lush car which im sure you all know...

    http://forum.vectra-c.com/showthread.php?t=17735
however there may now be a delay in buying that

    and the other is this

    again a very nice motor.

both are same age, similar mileage but the petrol one which i love is styled exactly to my liking.

just wanted some opinions of peeps on here!!

    thank u

Hmm, MLC's car is a beaut!!! - and 11K a year is not going to see huge benefits from having a diesel.

I can see your dilemma now!

Yep MLC`s is a beauty right enough, and a lot of toys ,the sunroof is rare. Sat nav is nice if you need it, but you could get a tom tom, Put a set of 19`s on the cdti and it would be a beauty, some nice ice in it as well .. 11k isn`t a huge amount of mileage, I guess I would be asking myself if I wanted to tune it, as the 1.9 is very easily a 200bhp ish car ..

I can see your dilemma, but for me the 1.9 would still take it (sorry MLC )
