Its easy done in a day, had to replace 6 (bout £8 each) of mine when I bought the car, new pump
and belt and its job done... You will need the timing kit tho.
do you only have to change the damaged ones or is it better to change them all ??
I just did the damaged ones, but check them all for marks etc, I only left the perfect ones on, replaced the rest...
It's pretty straight forward, remove everything to get the engine mount, remove that and all the belts, cam cover off, replace the rockers, then reverse the process...
fingers crossed there aint that much damage just need to do some reading up on the timing of the cam pully cant see that being to hard
thanks for your replies
Last time I had one it snapped a camshaft and stretched the gears, aswell as breaking a good few rockers.
The top end of my 1.9 CDTi engine had to be replaced when one of the tensioners went under warranty. Cost VX well over £3.5k
im tring to look on the bright side i will know more once ive got the car back and car striped the top off to see what damage has been done, if it turns out its more than rocker, water pump and belt kit it will be broke for parts being the elite its worth more in parts anyway but the mrs needs a car
when taking off the rocker cover do the injectors have to be removed or could i just remove the nut at the side of them and lift them out with the rocker cover ??
