    Default Brakes? in snow

Hi I got a 2.2 vectra c auto (03) and today because it was snowing pressed the little button with a pic of a snow flake on it. Pulled off and the first time i broke there was a wierd juddering in the brake peddle and it felt like there was metal against metal in the brakes. Turned off snowflake button (sorry not sure of real name for it) and its fine any ideas?

The juddering sounds like the ABS activating, someone should be along with a more technical explanation soon !

Yeah .... by pressing the button you are disabling the traction control hence the juddering and difficulty driving.

Having the button off means that Traction Control is activated .. hence greater stability

I thought that the snowflake button on auto boxes started you off in a lower gear to prevent wheelspin?

As yours is a auto the snowflake button is for winter mode, this used to mean the car pulled away in 2nd,but with modern electronics it could change even more settings. The juddering does sound like abs cutting in due to poor grip.
