    Default Ooops

I'd just like to say what a True Gent that traffic officer from "Traffic Cops" is. The fact that the wife quite fancies him is not relevant.

So, coming in to Portsmouth earlier in the week down the Eastern Road, it's a dual carraigeway, de-restricted, and the lights go Red. There's a big bike with Swiss plates beside me at the lights, a Suzuki, not sure exactly what type.

    The lights go Green.

Any guesses to what happens next?

    Hint: Observation is very important.

Especially, observation that the car that has just pulled up behind me might be a white BMW 5-Series estate, with a set of blue lights on top, and the words "Hampshire Police" in large blue lettters all over it, driven by a very nice man in full uniform.

I think the only reason I didn't get a ticket is that the gap between him and me expanded and then contracted so quickly (next set of lights went red too) that he couldn't get a lock, but you can imagine how I felt when I did clock him in the rear view mirror and got pulled over.

The discussion was very civilised, along the lines of me saying very little, and listening humbly to the lecture:
    - "...I know you're in a vxr, but please slow down, the limit is 60, and don't try and race bikes..."

If you ever wanted to see a vxr owner doing an impression of a sheep...

Ooops indeed! You lucky man you!

Bet you'll be looking in your rear view mirror more often now won't you?!

I'm normally pretty good at being aware of what's behind and around. For some reason, I wasn't quite on the ball, and derserved to get pulled, if only for being on the wrong planet.

Yup, for some reason the wife found it particularly funny, being as I do sometimes lecture her about all-around-awareness, and there's me doing a full-bore start with a clearly marked jam sandwich right behind me

I had a similar experience years ago when I'd just had a renault 5 turbo with 175bhp..and being the second day I'd had it, saying that the novelty hadn't worn off would be an understatment. once the big ol' rover had caught up I did escape a ticket...but got an hour long bollocking in the back of thier car
think that did more good than getting done...I can't really remember exactly what he said, the the words 'we were doing 80 and you were still pulling away from us' seem to stick for some reason
