    confused 3.2 v6 leaking coolant

now as u read in title, my poor car is leaking. this is not from the radiator!!! the water pump and 2 metal lines running into the motor r the cause. seems to be a big job and my mechanic doesnt want to do it. something to do with pulling most of the motor apart and breaking some plastic box they run into. I'm wondering about others experiances with leaks not from the radiator.

long winded message i know. just want some idea so i know what to say when i take it to holden.

I've had so many V6 water pumps fail, that i now automatically replace them at every cambelt change.. they fail at the gland seal on the front bearing, and the water comes out around the bottom pulley, so unless you're under the car you'd never see it...

Where abouts are these ' 2 metal lines'?? top of the engine?..
    got a picture mate?

so is the exchanger leaking or is it leaking into the oil system?..is the engine oil contaminated?.. or is the water just leaking out of the exchangers core???..

yes it's a big job because it involves a lot of stripping to get down to it..you have to take out the induction system down past the injectors to get down into the base of the valley..but when you're in it's plain sailing..

its not leaking into the oil, its all fine. its just the exchange unit leaking as far as i know. when u sit at lights u can smell the coolant burning on the motor.

right, so bad, but not deadly ... i think most of the $1000Aus will be labour.. it's a big dig down into that vee..If it's parts that are dear ( get a price) then we'll see how much one is over here....
