Default Air Con not getting cold...

So my air con stopped getting cold or making any noise to indicate it was working a while back so I had it re-gassed a couple of weeks ago.

All was fine, it was getting cold etc. When I turned it on it made a noise like gas was being released for a second or two and got cold fine.

It has now stopped getting cold again! Although now when I turn it on the noise of gas being released is constant but doesnt get cold...

    Any thoughts?

You got a leak, you have to find it first...but you cant your self do it..

Ok so the garage have confirmed that I have a leak in the Air Con Radiator and want £210 to fit a new one, does this price sound about right?

If it is just the Air Con Radiator that needs replacing, how hard would this be to do myself?

    Thanks

Did mine last year, Picked the condenser up from Aircon/radiator place down attercliffe, Sure it was about £70.00 Took me about a hour to fit give or take. Then got a friend to leak check/vac it down and regas it. Id say they got £80 - £100 labour in that price

You could do it yourself, though if you fit it and end up with a leak, Is it worth the hassle? Unless you know some one to Vac it down etc. If doing it, Replace the seals too that are on the 2 pipes.

Take it to somewhere like Kwikfit and if it won't refil because of a leak they won't charge you.

I had mine replaced a month or so ago and cost me £190 fully fitted, re-gassed and a two year warranty, average high street price for a complete re-gas is £45, and the rad's about £70, so you'd be saving a £100 or so to do it yourself, up to you if you think it's worth it.

I decided for the risk of me messing it up it wasn't worth it and got a pro to do it!

Got my condenser for £120 from local motor factors with a bit of haggling. Took about an hour to replace. I left old seals as they seemed fine and were silly money from vauxhall. Been ice cold since that was a year ago. I hate paying people to do something i cant be bothered to do.

I would give it a go if it will save me substantial money, going to shop around first to see the cheapest price I can get but if I can buy the rad and grt it regassed and save 100 quid I think I will
