Default Not used to the cold??....

This is the first winter with the diesel, and it seems to take ages to warm up.

Today it was about 6 miles before it was up to temp is this normal??.

Makes me miss the Volvo, heated seats climate control , i'm starting to miss these home comforts..

    Which engine?
I find the 3.0 V6 CDTI is very slow to warm up, but that's to be expected from such a large engine!
As for the cold, it's not bad really just a few days so far; can't complain

You wait till its -30 windchill and your Diesel starts to wax up (freeze)... then you wont be going anywhere...

Petrols will rule the roads then....!!

    Yes it's the V6..

When i had a Omega 3.0 V6 it warmed up very quick, i thought it was coz there was more heat generated, same as my old V6 Vectra B..

The next one i get WILL have heated seats, i could always use the mrs. Zafira GSi got climate, warms up very quick, but the aluminium gear knob is a killer.

To be honest, all diesels take a while to warm up!.

If you think you had problems, whilst in Poland last year, the temperature dropped to -35 degrees centigrade (Yes that's bl**y cold). I was very supprised that my 2.0 DTI started at all!, took about 20 seconds of cranking though to even begin firing.

The most interesing bit, when I stopped at any lights, (Only about a minute) the temperature gauge would drop right down to the bottom of the scale!, also, rather worryingly, the winscreen started to freeze on the inside!, with the heating on full!!!!.

But even though this was happening, the vectra kept going without a single hiccup.

Tomorrow I find out how my 1.9 CDTi (150) copes with snow on goodyears. Might be interesing!.

BTW. the Bridgestone touranzas on the DTi were utter **** the moment some snow hit the deck, when I changed to Continentals, I had no problems.

I wil let you know how I get on tommorrrow.

I will look out of the window at about 8.30 tomorrow morning and probably get back into bed!

Or go and throw snowballs at next doors kids. I have a score to settle from last year....

Oh, BTW, mine takes an age to warm up, which isn't cricket. Sharon's Punto is blowing tepid air by the end of the cul-de-sac!

    I miss the heated seats,

    Had them in these

    2.0 Cavalier Diplomat Auto
    2.5 Omega CDX Auto
    2.2 Omega CD Auto

And I really miss the Automatic as well, can't wait to shift this one on and return to lazy mode again.

    Vehicle : Vectra

    Trim : SRi

    Engine : 150

    Year : 05

    Mileage : 74000

First thing in the morning after leaving the house i crank up the car. put the electric seats on to max... crank up the heater to windscreen full blast... scrap off some of the ice.. when i can see clearly i move off... I adopt the shivering/huddled position until the heater gets warmer, after about 2-3miles i can then stretch out and the water temp would have reached about 85 degress and then its nice and hot
