    Default What a PLONKER............

Went for a nice drive this afternoon around Cheddar, nice and warm in the car but 8loody freezing outside. The temp on the computer was reading 1.5 / 2 depending if in the sun shine or not.

Going around this corner and coming the other way a BMW convertible with YES, the roof down. PLEASE PLEASE can any one else confirm for me is this normal pratice at this time of year.

    Answers on a postcard please

I saw a Volvo convertable today a bloke driving it with the roof down too, I know I don,t feel the cold but I would not "pose" like that, any way we can see it is a convertable they don,t need to prove it.

I have had the roof down all day today with the Astra Twin top I have here.

Heated seats on, windows up and heater blowing round your feet, and your just as warm as if the roof is up.!!!

top marks to the beemer man!!

I guess they have to 'justify' having bought a convertible - so at the first sign of sun they have to whip down the roof, even if the brass money's are dropping their balls by the roadside!!

I guess having the windows up made it a little warmer

    Wot a load of rubbish.

The wife had an MX-5 a while back, and I drove around in January with the top down if it wasn't raining or dark.

It's NOTHING to do with posing or "being seen", at least it wasn't for me - anyone that has met me knows that there isn't much to see: Serious lack of hair, bear-shaped, and not that young any more. Also, I didn't really fit in the car with the roof up.

What it is to do with is being outside, which is what we bought the car for in the first place. There's something special about driving an open top car in a sunny day in January, gloves and a woolly hat, the noise, the cold... you have to try it.

Also, you lot would be the first to call the driver a "plonker" if you spotted them in summer with the roof UP for whatever reason.

    all imho, as usual,
    dv.
