    Default Got wasted

    I was going home last night on the M62 and pulled up behind a SAAB 9-5 Aero in the outside lane. When the traffic cleared in front of him he floored it, so I did the same.

    He then proceeded to wave goodbye. I wasn't doing too bad really, but he was always pulling away. I'm not going to mention what the speeds were, but I'm not proud of it.

    We actually came off the M62 at the same junction and I pulled up alongside him at the traffic lights. He wound his window down and explained that it was the new 2.8 V6 turbo. He was a Saab, Vauxhall, Chevrolet salesman from the dealership I go to and he recognised my car and thought he'd show me what the new engine can do. It's the same engine that's in the Vec VXR.

    I have to have one!!!!!

    But it runs on the wrong fuel AJA !!!!!!!

    Back in a V6 !!!!!!!!!!!! And lovin it !!!

    LOL at Alex!! You're a brave, or is that foolish, man!! LOL

    I certainly wouldn't have had a go at a 9-5 Aero. The current model is 250bhp in standard trim, the newly announced one will be 260bhp!!

    I'm assuming it was actually a 9-3 Aero as that's the only one with the 2.8 V6 (250 bhp) and the new 9-5 Aero won't be out until November and that's 'only' a 2.3T (260bhp).

    I'd have still been tempted to boot it after him anyway, even though I knew he would waste me!! LOL

    I'm sure it was a 9-5, but could be wrong. The sales guy defo said it was the new 2.8 V6 turbo.

    Maybe I am a foolish man, but I just had to have a go. He didn't leave me for dead, but I knew it was the daddy!

    drinky - maybe it is the wrong fuel, but I could always fit an LPG conversion, that would half my fuel bill. Unfortunately, i've already spoke to Vx about this; they have stated that the VXR doesn't come with the dual fuel and if I was to fit an aftermarket one it would invalidate the warranty. So, I may have to put up with the fuel consumption until the warranty runs out or hope they develop the (rumoured) 1.9 cdtTi twin turbo'd diesel VXR.

    All I know is I want one.

    If it was the 2.8 V6 it was defo the 9-3 Aero. The new Aero still has the 2.3T and you won't see one until November.

    As you say, 9-3 Aero/9-5 Aero - they'll both leave us all standing with 250bhp!!! And yes, you've just got to have a go!! LOL

    i read in a magazine that a guy got a 6 month old monaro with delivery milage for £22500, thats a lit of car for that cash
