    Default CDTI 150bhp service intervals??

Hi all can anybody shed some light. I have a 2006 facelift Vectra 1.9 CDTI 150bhp SRI Sat Nav as per pic. It was first registered 31st March 2006 and now has 10,500 miles on the clock. Today the "insp" prompt on my display came on. Does this mean it needs a service now? I though the intervals were annual or 20,000 miles which even came first.
Also does your engine use oil? I heard that these new type of diesels are supposed to use a certain amonut of oil. Also what grade of oil do you top up with 0W 30 or 0W 40.

    Thanks in advance

In reverse order... I use Mobil 1 0W-40 from Costco, it has the correct GM code on it (something like GM-LL...), £23 for 4 litres from them. Yes, they use a drop... no worse than my last VW TDI.

Service intervals should be 20,000/12 months on your engine - I would put it down to it being set to the wrong intervals from the factory (which can also happen) - as your car is still under warranty, book it in as a fault.

MY 55 plate cdti sri service light came on a week after i had it serviced at 17800 miles as it was a year old on 1st jan 07.Ended up having to leave it in dealers for the day after 3 of the mechanics couldn't get code to cancel itself using the computer when i first took it back. They eventually found that the computer had been set up for a 1.8 petrol before it left the factory. I think the service intervals are 20,000miles or 1 year whatevers first.

    2004 and early 2005 1.9 CDTi's were 2 years / 30,000 miles

    2005/2006 1.9's are 12 months/20,000 miles

So how does my car know when it's a year old? My veccy was first registered on 31st March 06 but if could have left the factory after they test drove it in Feb. So maybe it thinks it's a year old now. What do you think to this idea??

it knows how old it is from the ECU's knowing the date they were intialially activated on the productoin line, when they uploaded all the cars software..it will be date stamped, and the car will use that as a reference date to then calculate later service intervals..but how accurately it asks for the service every 2 years is anyone guess as your driving will still factor into it..
