Talking CRD2 box fitted to my 3.0V6 today: Wow!!!

Had a CRD2 fitted this morning to my V6.

Thanks to Billy12 for selling, fitting and explaining the mapping/jumpers to me. Top fella, nice to meet you!!

I've got it on Map 1 just now, the "Harry" profile I believe.

What a difference in power and driveability. I should have done this ages ago!!.

Going to give it about a week, then start trying the other maps. Billy informs me that Map 4, the "Sally" one, is an absolute beast. Looking forward to trying it out, but I'm going to take my time.

Trip computer is showing an improvement in mpg as well, but I know that can be a wee bit misleading from what I've read here. I usually got anything between 34-38mpg when driven normally, but on a run from Falkirk to Stirling this afternoon, it didn't drop below 40mpg.

Really chuffed with it, best money I have spent on the car so far.

Yep, will be calling the insurance company tomorrow and declaring it, just to be on the safe side. Shouldn't add much on to the premium from what I have heard.

Power using the "Harry" map is supposed to be @209bhp or thereabouts from what I've been told?. Torque will obviously have risen in proportion with the increase in bhp. "Sally", Map 4, is the full bifta with 220bhp and 450Nm torque, I think.

But its real world results that count rather than figures. And I can honestly say its transformed the way the car drives. It wasnt exactly a slouch before as standard, but I cant believe the increase in power now.

3rd gear feels like 2nd gear, 4th feels like 3rd and so on. Boot it in 2nd and the TC kicks in, not a good idea to put the foot to the floor when cornering in any car, but this emphasises that to say the least!!.

I did a few overtakes this afternoon on the way home and the power on tap is instant now. Its also made the very slight hesitation in 1st when pulling away at a standstill vanish as well.

    So, a couple of questions.

Standard 0-60 is around the 8.8 mark I believe?. What does the CRD2 shave off of that, anyone know?. I'm going to get it rolling roaded at some point soon after I purchase a K&N panel filter, which Billy12 recommended.

It certainly feels a damn sight quicker getting to 60 now and "in-gear" acceleration is just amazing. And thats only me on Map 1 !!!!!.

    Awesome!!!.

Alright mate I am currently running the same box on map 2 +2 and find that the balance between power , economy and smokiness(exhaust) ideal. Have had it in top map and man can it go ,but certainly not in this weather just play about with settings and find the best for you

Cheers for that!!. Keen to try the 4th map but as you say, the way the roads are up here just now, it might not be a great idea.

What do the further adjustments from each individual map actually do? I mean the +1/-1 etc, settings?.
