    Default Connecting and IPOD

    Hi

I have a 80gb ipod and want to connect it to my head unit. I have a cdc2005 but after speaking to halfords they say it cant be hardwired because the headunit doesnt have a cd multi play button

Anyone have any ideas of the best way to connect?

I've got a Harmon Kardon drive n play wired through the aerial input, it's obviously only FM quality but unless you are prepared to replace the headunit it's the only way to go. There are other FM modulators around but wiring through the aerial gives the best sound.

I used an ICE-Link FM. Simple to fit, and the sound quality isn't bad. it connects inline with the Aerial.

    Nope, 'fraid not.
It just pipes the sound into the head unit. It's about the best you can do, without changing the head unit, since Vx don't give you external CD support, or a line level input.

You won't be able to control the IPOD with any of the FM based sytems from the steering wheel or radio, my HK has a mushroom controller that i've fixed to the steering column, I can't see it but it's easy to use without taking my hands off the wheel, the screen for the unit is next to the radio & the ipod is in the glove box.

On the subject of hard wired FM modulators - does anyone know if the ccr2006 stereo has a standard DIN aerial connector, or the unusual Fakra connector found on the later models? Cheers
