Default M.O.T. and FORD questions .

    First one ...

    1) If you have 5 months left on an M.O.T. and you put the car in for an early new M.O.T. and it fails ...

Does the newer failure M.O.T. take over from the previous one with 5 months ticket left ?

or can you carry on with the old one and it's five months left ?

    Second one ...

    2) If you lose the code / take the battery off to the Ford radio in the photograph , , , is it easy to get a new code ?

I think the earliest you can put the car forward for a mot is one month before expirydate so it would be pointless to do so anyway.

Give ford a ring for the code, and part with some money! Or your local radio fitting place could decode it but take longer and charge more.

I MoT my own cars every six months, never had any issues
You can present a car at any time for a MoT, even 1 day after a previous one

What is wrong with your SONY CD player?
I had this in my previous Mondeo Mark 3
The first one lasted a few weeks and was replaced with a refurbished one
The second one was also faulty, but it took Ford nearly 18 months to obtain a replacement (as I demanded a new one, not a refurbished one)

A great system, thankfully the fault only affected CD changing and the display
Once a month I had to remove the glovebox and disconnect the fuse in order to reset it

I managed to reset it without the Code Card
From memory, inserted the main key into the ignition then played with the clock button
Sadly I don't have the instructions any more, but I am quite sure a Mondeo forum will have the full details
I had to do this when visiting the VX dealership when trading it in, and the sales person sat beside me whilst I completed it
"The CD player needs to be working", 10 minutes later it was

Not 100% sure on where it stands if it fails and there is a valid mot though.

you get the standard 10 days to represent it for its test or its failed and the mot is void

    That's good for a pass ,

but does a new Failure M.O.T. take over from an old existing M.O.T. with 5 months still left to run ?

Is there a data base of M.O.T. information where it says for example ....... Car M.O.T.'d until December 2013 but most recently it failed a new M.O.T. in April 2013 ?

Does the garage have to declare the new failure information even if they can see clearly that there is an existing previous M.O.T. ?
