    Default Auto lights always on

    Hi,

For some reason my headlights are always on. The switch is set to Auto, but the headlights come on even in bright daylight.

Any ideas? Is there a sensor I could clean or something?

    Many thanks.

Try cleaning the plug to the light switch mate. If you take the switch out then the lights come on with the key. A dirty connector may be causing the same.

its either the faulty rain sensor as the rain sensor has the auto
light sensor built into 1 unit.

or the roof ribbon behind the roof alarm ultrasonic sensor panel
cud be ripped but this only happens if the screen has been
replaced as windscreen fitters always forget its attached and
they seem to damage the ribbon.

had about 3 of these within the last few months

Hmmm... I had disconnected the Rain Sensor ribbon a while ago (and reverted to standard intermittent wipers). Maybe that's what has caused the auto-lights to be permanently on? I'll re-connect it tomorrow and see how that goes.

    Many thanks for the replies...

yeah that be the problem if its not connected then it be an open circuit which will
make your headlamps stay on because its not letting the light sensor do its job

Does that mean there is no way of disabling the rain sensor without messing up the auto-lights?

Well I reconnected the plug (above the interior mirror) and the auto-lights are working correctly again

But I guess the iffy rain-sensors are also back now too

Doesn't the rain sensor only work if you push the stalk down? if you push it up your using the standard wiper settings

the rain sensor only works wen the wiper stalk is in the
intermittent position and wen in this position it shouldnt
wipe unless water has hit the rain sensor.
