Default Fitting Parking Sensors to Rear Bumper and Disconnecting LPG Filler Point

    Hi guys.

Am due to fit parking sensors this week and will need to remove the rear bumper to do it.

The question I have relates to the LPG filler point which although a standard type from what I can see, has been drilled and mounted onto the O/S rear bumper.

The bumper just seems to be "sandwiched" by 2 parts of the filler system, is it really as easy to remove as just undoing the 3 (or 4) visible screws whose heads can be seem clearly when the filler cap is removed ?

    Anyone done this ?

    Cheers

    Woody

Thanks guys, squirrell25 is perfectly correct. Bumper off job for a OEM installation.

Anyone know about the LPG filler point mount ? Does it literally unscrew with just 3 (I can't remember if it's 3, or possibly 4) screws ? I can't really see a manufacturers plastic bumper being part of the seal arrangements, motre of just a tidy exterior mounting point.

    Cheers

Ah well, Google is being helpful. I've just found this old thread on LPG fitting and it looks reasonably straight forward to reverse the procedure to remove, although it looks like it might be easier to leave it on and just disconnect the LPG pipe.

Unfortunately, with no ramp / trolley jack and a lowered car, it doesn't look that easy to tackle so I guess it will have to be done at a garage or possibly an LPG fitting centre.

Anyway, I'm wiser now than I was but if anyone has anything to add, please feel free.

Here's the old Omega Forum thread in case anyone else ever has a similar issue to address.

Malcolm, just close the valve on your LPG tank and undo the nut attaching the pipe to the filler point.
Use PTFE tape suitable for gas appliances when refitting. Should be easy enough.

Yeah, I saw that fella, but without a ramp / trolley jack and with the car lowered as much as it is, I can't get under it sufficiently well enough to see, plus with it being LPG I wouldn't want to risk it. The old thread I posted shows what's involved, but space & access is the problem now mate.

I'm due a LPG service at a fitting centre soon because they had to cancel my last appointment. I think I'll just turn up in person to re-book and ask them to disconnect the pipework while I'm there and get it re-fitted later.
