    Default Signum rear trye/bearing/usual? Noise

Have recently got a 2006 Siggy and getting a quite annoying noise from the rear. Difficult to describe but to me it does sound like tyre noise, more noticeable on Motorway and increases with speed, breaking into medium pitched harmonics a bit like you would hear from a lift motor. I am wondering if it is usual from this car due to its slightly more "open" design at the back, its way more noisy than my 2002 Vectra was, or if it could be bearings/tyres. There doesn't seem to be any play in the bearings. The rear tyres will need replacing soon, maybe the low level of tread is not helping?? Anyone any good recommendations for budget-ish quiet running tyres?

If the tires need replacing, best to get mid range to premium tires. Safety is more important than saving money, as the tires is the only safety net between you in the car and being in a ditch. When it comes to tires i would go for Falken or Avon.

Try moving the rear tyres to the front and see if the noise moves to the front... then move them back until you get them replaced.
