Default Anyone with a Signum 2.8T V6?? Some Questions.

I've just traded my Vectra 2.0T SRI in for a (06) Signum 2.8T V6 Design. Now me being me I do far more reading and research once I've bought the car rather than before (I get all excited and all I want to do is buy it......stupid I know).

Are all 2.8 Signums 230 or 250 hp? - I've seen conflicting figures and I am unsure if mine is one or the other (the car was registered on 13-06-06).

And if it's a 230hp can it be upgraded to the Vectra VXR's full 255hp??

BTW I was smitten with the car - 19" alloys really look the part but how do they compare to ride comfort with a Signum fitted with 17" alloys?

Anyway too many question already for one thread - and thanks to anyone who answers.

Yes you can upgrade to 250bhp if it is 230bhp but personally I would get the 300bhp remap straight on it for £500

You can`t simply remap to 250 with tech2 , this was my idea with the vxr, but you cannot put the map in by tech2 The bsr unit will take you to 285 with a huge increase in torque, but again, this does carry some risks as the 2.8 ecu`s are unstable and may cause issues, or even require a new ecu ££££££££&# 163;£££££££&#16 3;£££££ ... Nice car though and the 2.8T is a very smoooth engine ..

    Thanks for the advice.

I'll give it a while at standard hp then maybe think about it in a couple of months (warranty issues to consider too). Too true about the V6, one of the smoothest engines I've driven, and that includes Audi's 3.2V6, though the Audi had a better sound to it.

It will be 230. It's the VXR that was 255.

As mentioned earlier, you can get a BSR remap that'll take you to 285 and a good dollop extra of torque. There's currently a group buy on them at the moment. Let me know if you want details of the discount.

The advantage of the BSR option is that you can remove the remap, and put back in, at any time you want - for servicing etc. - as you get a reprogrammer (box of tricks) that you use to remap and remove.

There is minimal risk in remapping with the BSR unit - I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that the 2.8T unit is unstable Tommy.

When you order a BSR unit you give your VIN number. BSR then know exactly what software you have in your car and the specific remap is programmed into the programming unit - the PPC. If the original software changed slightly between VIN numbers, this is known by BSR and the remap will be adjusted accordingly for those VIN numbers.

If, when you come to remap the car with the PPC unit, the unit detects a software version that it wasn't expecting it won't just plough ahead and try and remap. It will then read the software data from the car and you send it to BSR (using the unit plugged into a PC via the USB socket) and they will then look at the original software, send you the map needed and you then download that back into the PPC unit and then go and remap the car. It's a fail-safe feature that means you can't go and try upload a remap into a car that you shouldn't.

    Thanks Duncan.

It appears that mine is a 230bhp as you stated, however as from October/December 2006 they went up to 250 (around the time the VXR went to 280bhp) the same as all the Saab units - must be cheaper to make one type I suppose.

The BSR does look interesting - they definately do 230? on the website it only mention 250bhp 2.8T up to 285bhp - please do send me details of the deal though and I'll have a look through - I'll post on the other forum as regards this - cheers.
