Default 2.2 DTI Crank snapped!! BEWARE!

    Hi,

I had a clanging noise coming from my 2.2DTI, read various posts on here and decided to change the inlet manifold gasket etc hoping that would cure the problem as it was a similar noise to what other people were describing.

However this morning it died and I had to tow it back!!

Whipped the sump off and it appears that the crank has literally snapped in half!
I noticed 2 or 3 other people on here have posted similar stories so just a heads up for other owners to beware!

Anyone know of a complete 2.2DTI for spares? or just the engine?

I thought they were bulletproof too! It's been perfect up until now. It's done 197,000 miles.

Yes they are the same, it would need your diesel pump on it.... and other bits and pieces... as its all programmed etc etc...

I can do it for £250 posted... (mine still has inlet and injectors on it but may need changing to yours not 100% but think they are the same with regards to the inlet)

    Update:
bought a complete running car yesterday for spares so going to do the easiest thing and transplant the engine and box straight into my car.
The head is still ok on my car so will have that and my gearbox for spares in the future.
thanks for all the posts in this topic.
will add a few pics of the transplant!
