Default Local vaux garage strikes again

Just thought I'd share a oldish woman at work approached me and said "Dan I have my car in at vauxhall" for a service she said that the mechanics had turned around and said the car needs 2 tyres one that's below the legal limit and the other has a nail in it .... And this is what got me they said she needs her brake pads done erm the car has only done 15k miles from new I said tell them to stuff it and take the car to a non vauxhall garage which she did and guess what tyres are fine plenty of life left in them and the pads are fine too

Unfortunately this happens all to often, I advertise in my local area to do some vehicle repairs/servicing as a sideline to work (im qualified so why not) it got to the point where I offered a free second opinion service where people could come to me with any work they had been m told they'd needed and check it out, 75% of people needed nothing doing but they soon came back to me when they did.

Honesty creates more custom as far as I'm concerned!

On the other hand though mileage has jack to do with brake measurements

you could go through a set of tyres an brake pads in a day. If you tries hard enough.

I have a garage over the road who is also a neighbour and used to drink in our local (before it shut) would be easy to go back there for work and MOTs etc but he failed wife's Saxo on all sorts and water contamination with oil in it etc... Anyway, she didnt get it fixed straight away, left it there, then they lost the fail sheet. Most of the "big" stuff was missing second time round!!!

They should be reported to Trading Standards, or maybe a letter to the local paper??

Its been tried on me and my mum. I then go to a trusted garage straight after to get the cars looked at and yes nothing needs to be done.

I was fine when they tried it on with me. I was upset they tried it on my mum though.

God knows how many get sucked in.
