just got my drilled and grooved front and rear discs from mtec, i thought i read in a post that they were prone to rusting on the ventilated edges, would it be wise to paint with heat resistant paint before fitting.

I wouldnt paint the discs!! Its there for safety not for altnerationing or customising
Stick them on, get them wet and bedded in, when you see the rust form take them off mask the clean areas, sand the rusted areas and paint
I always paint the areas the pads don't touch, stops them rusting and looking crap, it doesn't matter if you get a little paint on the contact areas either soon as you touch the brake pedal it will be removed. I use hammerite brush on if they on the car or spray if they are off the car. Been doing this for nearly 10 years without any issues![]()
I bought a set of black mtec discs. The black coating rubs off after the first few times on breaking, leaving black behind where the pads don't touch. Therefore no painting required.
