Talking Egr And Throttle Body Clean

Cleaned my Egr and Throttle Body yesterday and what can i say other than wow..

Took a couple hours to clean all the sludge out of the parts, Pipe and the part of the inlet i could get my tooth brush into but boy was it worth it. Car not only runs smoother but mpg has increased. Got through two tins of carb cleaner but well worth it.

If any of you guys get time and chance its some thing i suggest everyone does. My car has covered 81000 now and now ive done this it feels like it did when it had done half that..

Once again thanks to the guys and gals here for the how2's

Relatively easy job buddy but would also suggest doing throttle body while its off as you can clean the part of the inlet through to the egr also... Mine was gunked up to high heaven. It only another 5 bolts..

I was thinking of doing this too this weekend, i was wondering if you need to replace the gasket on the TB? I have done egr before and they were metal so didnt bother, but not sure about the TB gasket - its a z19dth

I used 1 tin of carb on the egr and about 10ml on the boost sensor with a little shake.

My car is on 86K now

My gasket was fine all be it also covered in gunk gave it a good clean and its all good.. My normal mpg going to work 80% A road and 20% Streets i used to get 49 to 50 mpg which i thought was a little low. I got 55 yesterday and upto 56 today so its definitely made a difference.. Just make sure you also clean inside the big pipe and inside the inlet as far as you can get in. Be prepared for you car to start like a bag of nails when job is complete as i guess its trying to run on carb cleaner lol..
