That's a p iss take
Where they silvertechs etc, or just yellow ones that had flaked, that's crazy!
I've not touched them in 10 months. I think they could have been originals that'd just faded
ffs but if that's all it failed on they could have just said you're indicator bulbs need renewed and passed it.
I've had a fail in the past for that too. My the orange coating did its usual trick of flaking off. From the side they still looked orange when flashing but straight on the were a pale yellow colour.
Hope it wasn't Halfrauds ?
Yes, probably.
OEM orange bulb are just oridnary bulbs painted with a crappy orange paint that cracks and flakes under heat and fades away.
Take them out and have a look at them, you'll immediately understand what I mean.
What's weird there is they're far from being the most used bulbs ! Maybe the tail sidelights bulb heat them over time too, though each of them are is separate reflectors, I don't know...
Now they're also exposed to everyday sunlights and UV : mine weren't in good condition too after half a few years, as I don't have a garage.
Actually, the orange/silver coating on tuning bulbs seems far better quality than the cheap orange paint on OEM bulbs, so don't hesitate to fit them instead : not only they're add a nicer look to the car, but the orange coating is completely protected under a reflective silver coating that should last for decades. And they blink a faithful, plain orange colour that can't be rejected.
I doubt they could refuse the bulb for not looking orange when off. Maybe you could ask them frankly ?

£10 fix, new bulbs, the orange burns off the bulbs eventually and follow one and you will know why it's a fail.
