    Default Peeling Door Handles

What is it that causes the grab handles on the insides of the doors to start peeling does anyone know?
When we were looking round for our Vectra we saw many with handles which were peeling & they looked awfull & was a sign the car had had a hard life. When we stumbled across the one we bought the drivers one had a slight mark to it & the passenger side was perfect and perfect it remained for a while but that has started to go now to.
I suspect it's the mother in law getting in & pulling the door shut with rings on her left hand which has started this one off as I don't wear rings & the missus drives the Vectra most of the time. If you grab the handle as if you was about to pull the door shut & look where the bases of your fingers are i.e where a ring would be this is the point of contact on the handles.
Does anyone know why this happens or is my theory correct

Also has anyone replaced there's? Is it a big / expensive job?

I've replaced em in both my vec-c's now. Because the rubber type coating was peeling off! Takes about 5 seconds to do mate and you don't even need tools! Just use the key to prise the bottom edge out then it'll just pull off! Then pop down to your dealer with the part number on the inside and order yourself some new ones! bout £12 i think.

Just use the key to prise the bottom edge out
I don't use ignition key for prising any more, I know it's the most inviting key to use when you need something to lever with but not the best idea when you're 60 miles from home and it bends and if you try bending it back it's going to snap
Fortunantly I squeezed it back straight across the bend with a pair of pliers instead of bending it & it's still fine to this day Has a slight hairline crack half way across it but it's been like that for a year now and I leave the company this Friday

What's the £12 for, each, a pair, how many? Good to know it's a simple fix as I think it looks dog rough.
