Default Teapot Tuning - Anther fantastic remap

Okay, it might have been last Sunday but i've finally got round to writing about it.

Had been in conversation with @littleteapot for around a week. I've been considering remaps / boxes and with Paul being relatively local to me i enquired.

My understanding is relatively limited, with a small amount of mechanical knowledge (working in IT i don't tend to get my hands dirty so to speak). But Paul explained everything too me and answered all my questions and we were all sorted for a Sunday Remap session! (Including blanking off my EGR).

So, arrived on Sunday at a approximately half one and met Paul. First job was blanking off the EGR. At this point i don't think i can resist mentioning that Paul managed to remove and put back together, forgetting to actually put the blanking plate in! No wonder it went back together so easily! . Haha but that was soon sorted and it was on to the remap.

I felt entirely comfortable letting Paul work on my ECU and map, his knowledge spoke for itself and i didn't even consider paying attention to what he was doing until the last few minutes!

We took it for a run down the A12, made a few adjustments here and there and i have to say Paul was fantastic. I was getting some smoke which i wasn't overly concerned about but Paul managed to eradicate the smoke for me (which has stayed that way paul!) without compromising on performance!

Most on here seem to have the 150, but mine was the 120 CDTI and standard it was fairly sluggish with a pretty limited area where torque was available. That is certainly, no longer the case. I've been amazed at the difference and after recently being in a Standard 150 it's certainly streets ahead of that.

Overall the car is much more driveable and i would recommend Paul to anyone. Certainly not just local either, i would encourage travelling to him over half the remap companies i've conversed with in the past.

    Thanks @littleteapot !

Yea that was a bit of a numpty moment there, forgetting to put the blanking plate in! You can blame @nutron for that - making me do a 320 mile round trip and stay up half of the night to unbrick his ECU . To Karl's credit he did pay half the cost of your remap as compensation for bumping you to later in the day! Isn't he a kind fellow

Thanks for the feedback, it was a nice change to be remapping a Z19DT. After all, it is my favourite engine...

    Hello people,

I have a sri 150, 2009, manual, just had it remapped and EGR blanked by an agent of celtic tuning yesterday, however we are having a bit of a problem. In second gear it is fine, flies all the way up the revs, however when accelerating from 2000rpm in 3rd or 4th it is cutting off just below 3000rpm and going into slug mode. But if i hammer it in 2nd up to 5000rpm then change to 3rd its fine and will continue acelerating (very hard might I add). The power difference is phenomenal, if i could just understand why it keeps cutting off at that point. We changed the fuel filter this morning. Going to see him again on wednesday as he is busy mapping race cars for a few days now, the guy is very knowledgable and I believe he can sort it, just wondered if anyone else has encountered this?

    Cheers
