    Default induction noise

hey everyone, sorry if this topic has already been coverd. Im after getting some real nice induction noise from my vec c. On previous cars ive normally just bought a cone such as K & N or Pipercross, im wondering if theres a difference in noise with the cones or the full induction kits that have the little fans inside. Or if anyone as a certain kit that stands out, Any help or reccomendation is appreciated

Cones are not recommended as they simply suck in the hot air from the engine bay, hot air saps engine power, you really need a feed of cold air.

Most people have used a K&N or Pipercross filter in the standard air box with varying results, some have added additional intakes and others have drilled the front of the air box like the VXR's. A closed induction kit will not give you anymore noise.

i put a cone on my 3.2. its quiet when driving normal but floor it and you can be heard lol as for cold air feed - yeah you need to do something about that - im still toying with modding the old air box so it houses the filter then getting some sort of direct feed to it wether it be a vent inthe bodywork or pipework .. . still to be looked into lol

just been and got a nice big cone and all fitted too, of out to test it shortly hope it sounds good lol. Is it true that it takes a while for the ECU to get used to all this new air because i swear a while back my mate fitted one to his 206 and im almost certain it got louder.

Is your motor 1.8 vvti mate? If so a k&n panel filter inside a drilled air box will most definately give the roar you are after,I've done this too wife's twintop with same engine, only thing is for some reason the higher the revs it makes a bizarre whistling noise! Personally IMO cones only work on old 8valve engines such as that fitted too cavaliers etc

1.8 yeah but its only the 52 plate not the face lift. i had drilled the air box and also removed the little plastic trumpet thats inside it, you could hear it a little but nothing special. Im pretty happy with this cone that i put on today tbh mate, cant belive difference in throttle response feels like driving a different car lol, sounds pretty good aswell... turned a few heads everytime i boot it lol

    Not necessarily true.

There's a few of us on here with K&N Apollo closed induction kits who've posted about the excellent noise the 3.2 makes and a few videos knocking about to prove it, there's one in my sig, for example.
