Default Nexen N3000 and Goodyear Efficient Grip on the same axle?

I need to replace one of my Goodyear 215/50 Tyres on the rear. I am looking at the Nexen but note its tread is different style from the Goodyear (NCT of old). My question is would the Nexen and Goodyear be legal on the same axle even though tread pattern is different?

It is legal to have different tires, as long as they are the same size and type (i.e. not radial and crossply) on the same axle, could cause some interesting handling issues however.

Can i ask why you only want to replace one? the N3000 is a very good tire for the price and would be better if you got both sides replaced at same time, unless it been punctured/slashed etc can understand why you don't want to shell out for 2 tires when only "need" one.

Nexen are dreadful mate, if you need a cheap one that's reasonable try WanLi or Westlake from Motorway Tyres or Arrowspeed from Kwik Fit, hth.
