Default rover mini whats your thoughts on them

    Evening all

just a quick one really whats your thoughts on the great little motors?

my mate had one years ago and it was brilliant

I am in the very early stages of "thinking about getting one"
i have seen some good ones for around the 5k mark.
If i was going to get one i would be after a late model 1999-2000 was it 2000 when they stoped production?
also as little miles as possible

    questions im after are:

    are they realiable

    are they decent on fuel

with the age what would it be like if i needed parts

and would a normal garage work on the car due to its age

    LIKE THIS ONE IS IDEAL

My Gran had them for 30+ years. No issues with them, were reliable.

Negative points - slow, loud, not much space under bonnet, and not for tall people

Cheap to run, cheap to tax, cheap to insure. Service and wear/tear parts were never an issue.

I've always wanted one. Just never been in the position to have something so small!

Parts are plentiful because they were so common place, and if any garage doesn't know how to work on a mini then they should shut up shop and take to doing paper rounds on BMX's.

The easiest car to work on, the older of us on here will remember the original ones, I had a 1973 to learn to drive in, in those days you could buy extensions to move seats further back for tall people.

My First car was a Mini, loved it.

Would have one again if I could.

Have a REAL soft spot for Mini Pick ups.

also if you get one when you insure it make sure you pay a little extra and get an agreed valuation so they don't pay you the book price for the car which would be hundreds rather than the thousands what its worth also the age of mini your looking are pretty reliable as there a multi point injection engine but what ever you do don't go for the single point injection one , good luck in finding the right mini for you .

The latest mini is what can only be described as the work of Frankenstein.
