Default NCDC2013 to CD70 in a half can pre-face Vectra

Well, it's in and working I'm now like a dog with 2 **cks

All thanks to lots of hours and head scratching by Robsey and caused mainly by a really amateur Parrot installation carried out by an apparant cowboy who really made a mess of the wiring and some faulty cabling.

The CD70 has everything functioning, scroller wheels, full board computer functions including average fuel and fuel remaining and, when I can make my way to someone who can provide help with a tech2, it also has Rear Seat Audio wired up & fitted but just needing programming.
@Robsey you are a STAR mate and all your knowledge, efforts and research and wiring and head scratching and re-wiring more than once only to discover a faulty cable was the culprit all the time are ALL very much appreciated fella

The mods included rewiring and adding can lines, converting cabling, fitting scroller switches and programming for scrollers and the board computer fuel use, and of course wiring up for RSA !!

Additionally the ECC unit needed switching to the full can version, and the centre dash speaker needed changing from the twin speaker version used by the NCDC2013 to the single speaker used by the CD70.

Robsey, you are a genius retrofitter and a guy who has done what others had said couldn't be !

    Many thanks fella

I'm sure @Robsey will be along with a how2 when he has had time

Incidentally, if you are considering this mod and find a suitable donor car, don't forget the centre dash speaker, also, as was said previously, if your pre-face has half can electronics and an Electronic Climate Control (ECC) then you will also need to swap the ECC for a faclift full can model. The part number of the facelift ECC I used was 13131021.

    Cheers

No, it's only the dash control unit. It's a module that just slides in similar to how the radio does except that it unclips in the same way that the cubbyhole does. Two large plugs on the back, unplug, swap units and replug and that's it.

In fact, that, probably along with the dash speaker, are probably the easiest bits of the job

Did fitting the CD70 single-coil speaker fix the distortion issues as well?

No it had nothing to do with the centre NCDC speaker because that had been unplugged from the loom at an early stage.

Today we went to start by reversing the radio output wiring via the quadlock so that the rear audio powered the front speakers and vice versa. During the wiring change Robsey discovered a badly made connection so the wire was replaced. Anyway, perfect audio once the reversal was done, and when it was put back to as it should be, again perfect audio.

So, all down to a dodgy connection on the quadlock conversion lead which was purchased retail and had a few additional wires added.

It was really frustrating and consumed a lot of time, but very pleasing to see that everything had been done correctly. I know @Robsey was as chuffed as I was. He was the one scratching his head, I was the one blowing the moths out of my wallet wondering if I might need a new headunit LOL
