Default Just been hit, do i call there insurance!!!

On the school run, parked stationary infront of a new mondeo, (single file down a road) she pulled out and was so busy looking in her right wing mirror she obviously not looking in her left and all her rear passenger door has scraped my drivers side back end. She was a grandma about 65. I called her husband which said he doesnt know weather to pay cash or insurance, and he will call his insurance tommorow to see what his excess is etc.. And see if its worth doing cash or not. (Damage to my car is approx £356) already been for a quote. But what should i do just sit and wait and not report it tonite???? Or am i shooting myself in foot for not reprting immediatly? I feel i carnt just sit arpund waiting to see if he wants to pay privatly. What would you do? Phone my insurance, phone his insurance, wait till mid morning??? Please help, i dont want to go threw my insurance and pay my excess as it wasnt my fault!

Wait until tomorrow now. Nothing really to gain by phoning the insurers today if he is getting back to you tomorrow morning.

If you inform them but dont claim it will still be a non fault accident but with a £0 value.

So what do i do? Is there a time frame you have to report this? If he turns nasty and somehow says its my fault as many people do, and he reports it first before me will insurance favour the person that reports it first? He sounds like a decent chap but you never know. And regards police i carnt ring 999 on the scene for some scuffs and no injuries surely.

Just checked my insurance website, its says needs reporting within 48 hours. Im gutted and sick of keeping a mint car just to be hit by careless drivers, kids scratching it, worrying where to park etc! I think i will get an old £500 car i dont care about!

My sister in law works for an insurance company and ive just called her, she said wait till morning and see what old fella comes back to me with, you have 48 hour to report and it doesnt matter who reports first, it goes on facts of fault only. if he wants to play the insurance game that is. He mite say he will just pay for it himself. Never know or he might just be a decent citizen and admit it fully and i have no probs, fingers crossed.

Report it to the police and just say what happened then its at least recorded and they will keep a record of his details as well x that way you can always tell your insurance company the police know of the incident
