    Default engine temp dropping

After putting a new thermostat and housing on the car it has been running brilliant but today i gave it a good boot up the motorway and the engine temp dropped to just above the 80 mark but soon as i slowed down again it climbed back to the 90 mark and sat there the rest of the way home anything to worry about guys ? (vvt engine)

    Default

Set the car running at tickover, take off the over flow bottle cap, let the engine get up to temperature and then start squeezing the big pipes, this can often shift an airlock.

I changed the thermostat on mine and the temp gauge still varies a little bit, I do not think the electronic thermostat on the VVT is as good as a normal Wax type as it appears to react too quckly.

Done that yesterday Ben and to be honest never noticed anything at all, yeah not a fan of it myself (or the price) cruising at normal motorway speed its fine but when giving it the beans it just seemed to drop quite quick to above the 80 mark on the gauge will see if it does it again and report back

    Default

Mine cools down when I am coasting down a hill, with my foot of the gas, the engine isnt generating as much heat, but the thermostat doesnt appear to react correctly.

Might just be a very sensitive temp sender that is telling the stat yo open more than needed?

Do you get a good flow into the over flow bottle? Have you checked your heater gets up to temperature? When you changed your thermostat, did you put the correct anti-freeze mix back in??
