    confused Veccy 1.9cdti 150 - 3 year old issue - trying to resolve again!

    Well its time to try and resolve this long term issue that no one can diagnose!

    In brief I have poor low rev performance, this seems to be worse when the engine is cold but the weather is warmer (like today 17 degree), also tickover is lumpy until the engine warms up.

    The spanner light has logged an error for over 3 years, this cannot be read by an reader (not paid to go to a dealer yet tho') and does clear itself and then comes back after typically 200 miles or less.

    I have had issues with temperature not going up but the recent cambelt / water pump / drive belt / thermostat seems to have cured this - it no runs at about 80-85 degrees.

    Another issue to raise is that whenever I have had a service or work done the car runs like a dream - great acceleration - but this last for minutes

    I am aware of the boost sensor and egr cleaning - both were done at Xmas.

    This is an annoying problem I want o finally get rid of...please help!

    What code reader were you using?

    Sounds like an egr problem to me.

    Had a CDTi in last week and the car wouldnt tick over and when driving had low power.

    Fitted a new egr and car was back to normal again.

    TBH mate - you need a decent code reader and all will be revealed. So TechII or Vaux-Com.. Could be glow plug related, could be duff sensor - but until you actually plug it into a decent code reader - you will be just guessing.

    run the car with the egr unplugged. you will get a spanner - but see if it makes a difference on how it runs.

    I have my own card reader - not sure of the model but I have also taken it to a garage and then couldnt read it. I have a blanking plate I could fit to see if it runs better and then if so replace the egr?

    If its stuck open unplugging it won't help. If there's no difference stick in the blank.

    Mileage is coming up for 90k bu this issues has been around for 3 years. Also I have had 2 replacment EGR valves during the life of the car.

    Does anyone know where I can get the code reader by a 'proper' reader in the LE11 or Nottingham area, is it dealer time?

    so my options are - unplug and test, then blank and test to see if any difference is made?

    That should rule out the egr.
