New headunit

I want to update the standard CRD2005 in my 2004 Vec to a possibly Pioneer headunit but I want to retain steering wheel control and if possible the display on console. I would also like my ipod controlled by it, yes I know don't want much do I??

I would consider other makes of car stereo, anyone done anything similar to this with any ideas where to get stuff needed from?? What would I need exactly???

sony do a nice line of head units ( mine is a sony cdx-gt300s with portable audio input on the front cost around £130.00 )and you can also get the adaptor to suit sony is also the cheapest ive found costing around £50.00, alpine and others are in the region of £100.00, the only snag is that you still have to have a permanent supply fitted and this costs around £30.00 unless you fancy a bit of diy, hope this helps you as ive just gone through this myself and my car is booked in to have the feed done tomorow and will be sorted, then i can have a go at fitting my sub n amp......
