Default Cdti 120 high fuel consumption

Hi, my 54 plate vectra sri cdti 120 has all of a sudden gone really **** on the fuel, i watch the range going down mile by mile as im driving along it will drop about 10 miles for every mile i drive, and i got about 150 miles to half a tank, thats driving it responsibly aswell lol. If im on the motorway at 70 mph the range will climb, but as soon as i start driving at round town speeds it drops off rapidly. No eml is on and no codes stored in ecu. Any ideas?

i was getting around 41 mpg average in mine till i cleaned egr valve and the little sensor at the side of it (is it the boost sensor) now getting 49.5 mpg average.
plus check you dont have a sticking rear brake caliper holding you back as well cos this effects the mph as well

Change the thermostat it will heat up quicker, as for the consumption I have no idea, mine was better on consumption before I changed the stat, although i only dropped a couple of MPG, most of my driving is motorway anyhow. Have any codes read anyway may be something there that has not caused the EML to come on.

your thermostat should read around 86 and stay there unless you put your heater on say setting 4 then drops a little

diesels do take longer to heat up but i would change the thermostat its a common fault on the vectra c 120 150 and 1.8 petrol

i believe the 120 is a bit awkward to change

Have scanned it with my snap on solus pro scanner and there are no faults stored. Will get the stat changed and see how it goes!
