    Default Should i?

I really want an insignia, my preferred choice is to go for a 2.0cdti Elite in pearlwhite! But seen a nice silver 1.8 SE in silver, now looking at figures there doesnt seem to be much in it! Mpg and power but i would liketo hear a your opinions on the SE amd petrol engines, if i do go for petrol i would get LPG fitted.

So how do you find petrol engine! Is it good on fuel and is it enough power or sluggish?

Or should i hold off for the one i want, the SE appears to be well spec'd

My cousin has a 2010 1.8 SE. I personally feel the engine is way too under powered. IIRC it's the same 140bhp vvt engine from the vectra. SE Spec has mostly all that you would need

I would defo go for the 2.0cdti 160bhp in elite. The drls, afl and 18" wheels make it look soooo much better.
My preference would be the tourer over the hatch too.

i agree with above that the 1.8 petrol is too small for the Insignia. 2L Turbo or the Diesels should be great.

Thanks guys, i have been searching and i do prefer the elite! And i prefer having power to over take! I mainly drive motorway also so i would prefer diesel, the SE model i was looking at is an 09 plate has the 1.8 petrol thpugj but car looks stunning the wheels look 18"-19" and not a common style i have seen, but ae vauxhall also is syar silver in colour! Bit i keep having this niggle to hold off for an Elite, i think they look so much cooler with the afl and lef drl. The only thing i am not sure on is the Elite alloys! Would prefer the double 5spoke style on the SRi versions or VXR reps.

I think you will be better keeping the NET than going to the 1.8 petrol.
I changed to the diesel tourer a couple of weeks ago and I'm quite happy with it, plenty of go for overtaking and pretty good fuel economy 45mpg which is mostly short journeys and A roads, non motorway driving at all..
Get a drive in them both is the best option ;-)

A member here had a 1.8 Insignia and it was getting less MPG than a VXR. This appears to be one of the main reasons they are so cheap to buy.

The SE is a nice spec but you will be very dissapointed with the power & economy of the 1.8 petrol

1.8 petrol insignias were built for company car drivers, their only good point is that they attract a low company car tax rate.

Yeah definately think i will hold off and get the one i want! The CDTi Elite. I just know i wont be happy if its not what i wanted! Evans Halshaw in Glasgow have a good one thats done under 30k mls but its not really the colour i like and it has a towbar on it! Towbar i would like as i have one just now, but the ones i have seen on the insignias i have looked at are the old old style which appears not to be detatchable where as my signum one is so its only on car when i need it!.
