    Default Help! Fitting bilstein shocks

Hi all, in the middle of changing the shocks on my vectra to bilstein b6's I've got the first shock off the car, removed spring etc. but when I've went to put everything on the bilsteins the orange foam bump stop thing doesn't go on the bilstein properly as the shaft on the bilstein is much thicker than standard.

Am I supposed to bore the bump stop out to make it fit or is this bot right?

Please help, sat in the carpark with my car in bits and it's freezing!

Doesn't need the bump stops. The Bilsteins have them built in inside them.

Still haven't solved this, sound's loke something is seriously loose but on checking my work nothing appears to be, it sounds horrendous, only pulled it out the car park and put it straight back in for fear of something happening

Have you tightened the drop links up tight?

Did you replace the top strut mounts and bearings at the same time? I had a similar problem when I replaced my struts springs etc. Although the top mounts and bearings all seemed okay when i was changing everything I had a new knock when I'd put everything back together, so bad at times that I thought the front end was falling off. This turned out to be the top mounts.

Hope you get it sorted soon

Drop link is done up nice and tight, one thing I did worry about was torqing the bolt in the strut as all of the methods listed in the how to cannot be used with a torque wrench, so i just did it up nice and tight and made sure it matched the other side
Hmm, how much are the top mounts and bearings, do we have part numbers? Weird how it wasn't doing it before!
But yes the sound does resemble the front end wanting to fall off lol!

Huge selection and it's probably worth shopping around but here is an example off ebay ....

They really need to be done quick, my local euro carparts have got them in Part No.: 609720260 for £21.30 (obviously I need 2)
