    Default Removing pioneer headunit

I've got a double din pioneer satnav headunit installed (avic hd3 BT) and want to replace it with a DVD 90. But how do I remove the pioneer radio?

Don't you have the keys that came with the unit?

no, it came with this headunit instead of cd30 when it was new - fitted at the dealer before delivery. Different owner, I don't even have the keycode for it either - so once removed, there's no turning back.

edit: I might want to contact pioneer regarding the keycode, if I would want to sell it

Without the keys any attempt at removel could possibly damage the facia etc as you would have to force it out.. Me personally I'd take the car to a car radio shop and see if they can help rather then risk damaging anything

You can buy keys for Pioneer stearo's online (ebay etc)... Just search but the model type.

That said if this had been fitted to a Vectra C I am assuming it has an aftermarket fitting kit (fascia) also which means it needs a different set of keys to get it out.

    Somethign like this...? http://budgetcaraudio.co.uk/ds-ebay/...AUXHALL-23.jpg

Can you post a pic up to let us see what we are dealing with?

The inner trim just clips off, there will be two brass pieces either side of the radio as you can see in that document on page 1. You need to push two keys (or thin pieces of metal) between the brass coloured pieces and the outer cage. This will release the radio.

Then, remove the glove box for access and push the radio from behind - it should slide out of the dash. Disconnect the wiring and remove the radio, then release the cage by releasing the bent clips that are holding it into the dash. Once the cage is out, the outer trim will drop away (or come away with the cage). After that, remove all the wiring back to the quadlock, fit the CD70 cage, pull the wiring through, plug the quadlock into the radio, connect up the antennae and fit it into the dash. Done.

better go finding a cd70 cage before removing it. But I think I'll give it a go removing the climate controls and cubby hole rather than the glove box.

You won't be able to get the purchase on it by just removing the CC and cubby hole. The glovebox is only 5 T20s... it's simple to remove and gives much better access...
