Default New Siggy 3.0v6 cdti - Rough running

Picked up a Siggy last week, 2004 3.0 v6 cdti. I've owned an irmscher 2.2 petrol siggy before and wished I never sold it so bought this one! Trouble I have is its running rough between 1800-2200 revs and kicks out a lot of black smoke when I put my foot down. Apparently its been either chipped or remapped to 217bhp.
Is it likely to have been chipped or remapped incorrectly or poorly or is there something else I need to be looking at. Just had it serviced and thats not helped. Don't want to go spending £250 getting it remapped again if its likely to be something else? If it helps when its cold or just started up it doesnt smoke or kangaroo as much as when its warmed up.
I would really appreciate your advice and help please?

Maybe @cont1204 could take a look at ecu data to see if it has been mapped.

just a suggestion for time being try cleaning the maf sensor with some carb/ electrical contact cleaner

and maybe someone local or mark again could do done data logging runs to help pinpoint it better

Sounds to me like the EGR Valve is nearing the end of its life and in turn is returning a poor signal to the turbo boost sensor
    However, further information is required
As a 2004MY, what mileage is the car on, when were the last two services (date and mileage), and what does the service indicator currently show?

Black smoke is quite normal :
Once the engine is warm and applying a short burst of high revs (as per the MoT test)
After running at a constant speed / low revs for several miles, and then changing down gears with high revs

If you are getting black smoke at any other time then there is most likely an issue with either the Fuel Pump or Injectors

Although it may have been chipped / remapped to 217PS, I would suggest having a reading taken at a rolling road to confirm this

Thanks, the mileage is 94k and I've just had it serviced last week and chucked in some of that bg44k stuff or whatever it is! service light was reset then too. Don't know when last service was before this as car didnt come with any service history unfortunately.
It smokes only when putting my foot down and when its kangarooing it seems to chuck out the black smoke too.
I had the ecu read as have a power steering warning light on the dash and this showed no other issues othan than a faulty wheel angle sensor which is the cause of this light.
It only kanaroos between these revs too and at no other time, other than leaving eferyone in a plume of black smoke it appears to be running great either side of these revs although is only returning 30mpg round town!

If i was in your shoes mate i would start by putting it back to standard, would,nt have thought it would cost nothing like 250 to do it,at least thats off your mind plus it should be quick enough standard, mine allways makes me smile.

Checked the maf sensor tonight and that looks clean so don't think its that. Before I put it back to normal or get it remapped I want to check everything else first and make sure there isn't anything obvious that needs checking.

I think you will find that 30mpg around town is rather decent!

I can't help you with the problem but when i've had my diesels remapped in the past, they have always seemed to have smoked loads! :/

The MAF might look clean but it can still be faulty.
My Y30DT is boxed and it doesn't smoke more than it did without the box...on the contrary...
