confused CDTi 8v Vacuum Pump Problem

    Morning folks.

My vacuum pump on my car is leaking a small amount of oil from its underside. It's been removed and had the gasket replaced but to no avail. It has reduced how much is leaking but not stopped it. I am at my wits end with it now as all I know is that it's a vital part of my engine. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be the cause of this? I don't know a great deal of detail about them so don't know what to be looking for really.

What are the signs of failure? Have I missed something? Clueless!

Any help will be greatly received with thanks.

    Dave.

Have you inspected for any signs of cracking & warping when you replaced gasket?

I did on the head but not on the pump itself.

Trying hard to fix it as ECP have them at an eye-watering £118 inc. VAT. Ouch

Have you read the how2 on here as it kind of explains why it leaks. As far as i can make out its the oil from the vacuum pipe that fills it with oil.

Mine is leaking on my 1.9 150 from the bottom corner, theres always been a dark patch there but in the last month its started to seep out alot.As far as i know its the 2.2 that suffer with this problem more that the 1.9's but its not unheard of.

Theres a few knocking around on ebay for alot less that the price of a new one but i would investigate first where the oil is comming from.

Just out of interest how much did you py for the gasket?

I paid a shade over £4 from the dealers. I know it's definitely coming from here. We think it's down to a bent gasket. Having another delivered.

it shouldnt matter if the gasket is bent as when you torque it up it will straighten out
