Using oil.

I have had to top-up my 53 plate 2.2 SXI on 4 separate occasions, totalling over 4 litres of oil after the "low-warning" light has appeared on my dash in the last 10K. I have an acquaintance who is in the business who says that's far from normal. Anyone here had this experience?

Get it checked mate. Oil burners don't even use that much oil.

my 2.2 had the light come on once and i had to put a litre in but has been fine since. as alex said i'd get it booked in and checked mate

I remember reading in the vectra-sport forum some months ago about others having the same problem and/or also of the car emitting dark exhaust smoke (that doesn't happen to mine). After many attempts by the garage at a fix, "I think" I remember someone eventually got a new engine.

I remember taking the car back a month or so after buying it and told them that the oil level was low. They topped it up there and then.

The car's done 27K up to now.

Mine uses a little oil, garage said nothing to worry about, they are known for it, something about the head being aluminum, he could have been talking out of his **** , but I would just keep an eye on it
